I don't know how much more I can take
How has the last week been?
It has been a little better. I have been staying on the street, but occasionally in a hotel.
At this time I’m in a room at Budget Inn on Sugar Creek in Charlotte for a few days. I am facing danger every day and I pray that God can pull me through.
How are the kids doing?
Okay. Being homeless is not easy. I pray it gets better.
Do you feel safe?
Yes, when I'm in a hotel.
On the street, I never feel completely safe. I have been through way too much, I need it to get better for real.
I have faced gang attacks, lots of gunshots fired, and a gun being put to my head. I have even been raped multiple times. I don't know how much more I can take. I pray to God every day, asking for mercy on my soul.
Who have you asked for help?
I have asked certain social workers for help, but I haven't received any response from them. It's like they don't even care about me.
How much does it cost for a week in the motel?
It costs $80 a day to stay in the motel. I can't afford it anymore.
Are you doing anything to change things?
I will work at my part-time job and do whatever I can to make enough money to improve my situation. I don't know how much more I can take.
What are some things you need that would really help?
Help with hotel fees
Food assistance
Odds and ends for the motel room
Support from others
Encouragement and hope
May God have mercy on my soul during this difficult journey. I am stressed.
